Measurement Cells
Screw ring
The screw ring is provided with a saw tooth thread. Maintain the correct orientation when remounting the cell. If the ring appears to stall when tightening, DO NOT apply additional force but flip the ring upside down and try again. The screw ring shall be tightened with defined torque, depending on the centerpiece material. A torque stand is required for this procedure.

Window holder
Window holders are available in two variants: for housings with metric threaded filling holes and for such with imperial threaded filling holes. Furthermore, special holders are provided for use with interference optics only. These considerably enhance the quality of detection, but they cannot be used with absorbance optics. Read more about the benefits of interference window holders here. [Link zur Seite Interferenzfensterhalter aus der alten Website.] Interference window holders are only used for the top side; on the bottom side, there will always be window holders with regular cutouts,

Windows
Cell windows are provided in quartz and sapphire. Sapphire windows are recommended for use with interference optics. Quartz windows were used for maximum transmittance in the UV range, but modern sapphire windows are of equal quality. They have the benefit of higher stability and will not “crack” as easily.

Centerpieces
Centerpieces made of titanium provide resistance towards most solvents (acidic, basic, organic) and towards rotational speeds up to 60 krpm. They require double sector gaskets as consumables with every run. Epoxy centerpieces are sensitive towards organic solvents but require no gaskets.
Special Centerpieces: Meniscus Matching
Meniscus matching centerpieces are used to ensure that the meniscus location of the fluid in the reference channel, (left side) and sample channel (right side) are identical.
This procedure offers significant advantages for the AUC user: Using Rayleigh interference detection, perfectly matched menisci are required to avoid signal offsets from solvent/buffer components in both sectors, resulting in superposition onto the analyte signal. In doing so, the data evaluation is enhanced by reducing efforts to account for such signal offsets employing dedicated data algorithms.
Be sure to follow the instructions for working with meniscus matching centerpieces.

Spacers
Spacers are used to fit short centerpieces into standard 12 mm housings. This will shift the centerpieces out of the 2/3 plane optimal for interference detection. For imperial threaded housings, only available in 12 mm layout, this drawback cannot be avoided. Metric threaded housings are available for all optical pathlengths, providing optical geometry, eliminating this limitation.

Filling hole plugs
Filling hole plugs are available with metric threads (for metric threaded housings) and imperial threads (for imperial threaded housings). They are distinguishable by their color (steel for metric, brass for imperial) and socket (slit for metric, hex for imperial). Note that for housings of other makes than Nanolytics Instruments, imperial threaded screws are required, and those traditionally offered feature slit screws as well.
It is recommended to use an appropriate
screwdriver for slit drive screws made by Nanolytics Instruments. It provides perfect
fit, with optimum torque transfer and avoiding wearing of the slit.
Screwdrivers with torque control are available for both types.
Gaskets for filling hole screws are available as consumables.

Complete Cell Assemblies
Ordering cells as complete assemblies does not provide a financial benefit; it is for simplification only. However, when complete assemblies with windows are ordered, they are tested for leakages prior to shipping.
